Sr Cloud Test Automation Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Cloud Test Automation Engineer, support the successful delivery of Location Strategy projects to plan, budget, agreed quality and governance standards. Design, develop and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance and user experience while collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve defects and improve testing processes.

What you'll do

• Design and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and compliance with established quality standards.
• Create and execute automated test scripts using testing frameworks and tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions and contribute to acceptance criteria.
• Perform root cause analysis for identified defects and work with developers on defect resolution.
• Participate in code reviews and promote code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and contribute to technology communities.
• Develop and execute automated test scripts independently for project releases.
• Contribute to test strategy, planning, estimation and execution.
• Perform defect analysis, debugging and root cause identification.
• Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, execution efficiency and framework scalability.
• Support, maintain and enhance automation frameworks across iterative development, system testing and regression cycles.
• Use test management tools to manage the testing lifecycle and report testing metrics.
• Work with developers, product owners and QA teams to ensure high-quality releases.
• Help define sprint goals and ensure backlog items are ready for planning.
• Facilitate daily meetings, stakeholder demonstrations and communication between the Product Owner, Development Team, stakeholders and other teams.
• Gather feedback, track and implement action items, and guide the team in identifying improvements.
• Identify blockers, coordinate issue resolution and escalate risks when necessary.
• Educate team members on Scrum principles and Agile values, and promote Agile best practices, self-organization, accountability, collaboration and trust.
• Assist with backlog refinement and prioritization, and help maintain a healthy and prioritized Product Backlog.
• Help resolve team conflicts and foster a positive, productive environment.
• Ensure transparency on progress and risks, manage expectations regarding delivery timelines and scope, and protect sprint execution from external pressures.
• Ensure Scrum processes are respected and encourage cross-functional teamwork.

What you'll need

• Strong hands-on experience in Python and automation development.
• Strong working knowledge of BDD automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright, RestAssured, typescript, Cypress and Selenium.
• AI adoption using Claude, Git Lab Duo and Co-Pilot for test deliverables.
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Solid Git version control skills.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API concepts and JSON/XML data formats.
• Proven experience in Databricks Testing, Snowflake Testing, AWS Cloud testing, API testing, database testing and end-to-end test validation across complex systems.
• Experience with GitLab Duo and modern automation tooling.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodology, Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and defect management processes.

Nice to have

• Experience in the Banking domain.
• Performance testing in cloud environments.
• CI/CD integration using Jenkins and Git.
• Awareness of AWS and Azure environments.
• Hands-on experience with test management tools such as JIRA.
