Overview

Sr Engineering Manager - Java Backend leads a backend engineering team and drives scalable product development within NIQ Activate R&D.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable microservices from architecture to production deployment.
• Lead backend system design and implementation for robust, secure, maintainable solutions.
• Own development, maintenance, testing strategy, design discussions, and team operations for containerized API services.
• Deliver end-to-end lifecycle of new product features/components using agile design, implementation, and deployment.
• Ensure application performance, uptime, code quality, and thoughtful application design.
• Use GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve productivity.

What you'll need

• 12+ years as a backend developer.
• At least 4+ years of experience managing teams.
• Experience with server-side technologies: Java, Springboot, and SQL.
• Knowledge of Agentic AI.
• Experience with large-scale SQL/NoSQL databases including SingleStore and Postgres.
• Fluency with relational databases.
• Good problem-solving and analysis abilities.
• Must have a B.Sc. in computer science or equivalent.
