Overview
Senior Machine Learning Engineer for Amgen’s AI Studio, owning an AI asset or technical workstream from problem framing through production, stabilization, support transition, adoption, and measurable outcomes.
What you'll do
- Define user workflows, decisions, intended uses, baseline and value hypothesis, and acceptance criteria.
- Map rules, exceptions, data dependencies, and human decision points before selecting an automation or ML approach.
- Own production architecture across pipelines, models, retrieval/agents, APIs, workflows, UX, security zones, and human review.
- Lead hands-on development of production software components including EDA, feature engineering, models, inference services, and RAG/agent orchestration.
- Design experiments and controls including baselines, leakage controls, uncertainty calibration, robustness checks, and release thresholds.
- Establish MLOps/LLMOps covering lineage, reproducibility, versioning, CI/CD, observability, drift monitoring, SLOs, rollback, and runbooks.
- Coordinate Responsible AI, security/privacy, Quality/legal, model-risk, and GxP controls, and mentor engineers.
What you'll need
- 8–13 years of experience in Computer Science, IT, or related field (Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree).
- Advanced production software and AI/ML system design including Python and SQL, APIs, and distributed/event-driven services.
- Advanced statistics and ML experimental design including EDA, feature engineering, supervised/unsupervised learning, calibration, and robustness.
- Deep learning/NLP/foundation models including selection and production use, with attention to latency, privacy, and cost trade-offs.
- GenAI/RAG and agentic AI concepts including grounded retrieval, provenance/citations, abstention, and human control.
- Experience with data/AI operations including trustworthy batch/streaming pipelines and lineage (plus MLOps/LLMOps exposure).
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of at least one production ML, GenAI, software, data, or automation system with measurable outcomes.
