Sr. Manager - (11+ to 14 Yrs , Java Backend)

Overview

Sr. Manager role focused on leading backend/software engineering for payment-related platforms and API systems at Visa.

What you'll do

• Lead engineering delivery across multiple platforms and features, including API Gateway, API Onboarding, and MCP Gateway.
• Design and guide development of scalable, secure, reusable, high-quality solutions for global users.
• Drive innovation across APIs, platforms, and full-stack applications using modern technologies and AI-assisted tools.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, test, and DevOps teams to deliver capabilities and improve quality.
• Manage multiple engineering initiatives and feature tracks end-to-end with stakeholders.
• Provide architecture and design leadership to ensure scalability, maintainability, and proper integration.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with several years in engineering management/people leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience leading teams delivering scalable APIs, platforms, and full-stack applications.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, scalability, and security.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools/agents such as Claude Code and Copilot-Codex.
• Strong cross-functional leadership working across Product, Test, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum teams.
