Sr Principal - Data Protection and Cyber Recovery Engineer

Overview

Senior Data Resiliency Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and assuring data protection and recovery capabilities across a hybrid cloud estate.

What you'll do

• Architect, implement, and operate backup and restore solutions across on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
• Define, own, and continuously validate RTO/RPO targets aligned to IBS mapping and impact tolerances.
• Own backup policy governance (retention schedules, legal hold, classification alignment, and lifecycle rules).
• Lead structured restore testing and DR failover exercises with evidence for regulatory review.
• Design and maintain air-gapped and immutable backup tiers for ransomware and cyber-attack recovery.
• Build backup infrastructure using Terraform and automate restore validation workflows.

What you'll need

• 15+ years professional experience.
• 6+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering focused on backup, recovery, and data protection.
• At least 3 years in financial services or other regulated environments.
• Hands-on production Terraform experience including modules and enterprise CI/CD integration.
• Hands-on experience across both on-premises infrastructure and at least one major cloud provider.
• Working knowledge of UK/EU operational resilience and ICT risk regulations (FCA/PRA SS2/21, DORA, BCBS 239).
