Sr Principal Software Engineer - MAC

Overview

Lead the design and development of high-quality, customer-facing Mac desktop experiences as a senior individual contributor. Own Mac UI architecture, technical direction, and hands-on delivery across complex products.

What you'll do

• Architect and develop modern Mac UI features for desktop applications.
• Lead complex UI workflows using Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++.
• Drive architecture, maintainability, scalability, and performance decisions.
• Partner with product, design, backend, and QA teams on user experiences.
• Review code and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
• Troubleshoot production issues involving UI, integration, memory, performance, and stability.
• Evaluate AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering workflows.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in Swift, Objective-C, and C/C++.
• Extensive hands-on Mac application engineering experience.
• Deep experience building native Mac UI applications and shipping customer-facing desktop products.
• Understanding of macOS architecture, UI frameworks, event-driven programming, and system-level behavior.
• Ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct people management responsibility.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing legacy Mac codebases and mixed-language applications.
• Experience integrating UI layers with platform services, system components, or shared libraries.
• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, and desktop release engineering.
• Experience using AI tools for coding, testing, code review, documentation, or workflow improvement.
