Sr Product Software Engineer I

Overview

Design and build high-scale backend systems for Disney’s global programmatic advertising platforms. The hands-on role focuses on distributed systems, architectural ownership, reliability, and AI-enabled product capabilities.

What you'll do

• Design and implement scalable backend services.
• Write code for new features and service optimization.
• Contribute to architectural decisions across services.
• Collaborate with engineers and partner teams on solutions.
• Ensure code quality through testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
• Participate in on-call rotation and production support.
• Monitor systems and investigate operational incidents.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on proficiency in Java or Python.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience designing API-driven architectures and integrating model-serving or external services across cloud environments.
• Strong testing, CI/CD, and maintainable-code practices.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks.
• Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or other streaming systems.
• Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Exposure to high-throughput or low-latency systems.
