Sr Qa Sw Engineer

Overview

Senior QA Engineer to drive end-to-end quality assurance for Extreme Networks' cloud-native networking platform, defining test strategy, building automation across cloud, networking, microservices, APIs and UI, and validating real-world customer workflows.

What you'll do

• Define end-to-end test strategy and test planning for cloud-based networking applications and services.
• Plan, develop, execute and automate test suites for cloud-based networking applications and services.
• Perform functional, integration, performance, scale and load validations.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Development, CloudOps and other teams on the above.
• Review customer deployments and customer-found issues and address gaps in test coverage.
• Automate features end to end across API and GUI.
• Review automation code written by other team members and give feedback.
• Perform API testing covering functional, security and scale/performance aspects (REST preferred).
• Program hands-on in Java, Python, Robot, Perl, Go or TCL/TK.
• Test wired networking protocols such as VLAN, IP, STP, TCP, UDP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IS-IS and SPBM.
• Test enterprise wireless and wired networks.
• Test security concepts and protocols such as AAA framework, 802.1X, captive portal, VPN, firewalls and SSL.
• Automate UI tests using Selenium or Playwright.
• Use network testing tools such as Wireshark, Ethereal or JMeter.
• Validate deployment scenarios, integrations and upgrade paths.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5-8 years of experience in the network management/orchestration domain.
• Excellent QA experience, including testing cloud-based applications.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Experience and understanding of Kubernetes, Docker and clustering solutions.
• Good debugging skills in a microservices-oriented architecture-based product.
• Hands-on experience with performance testing and monitoring using tools such as JMeter or Locust.
• Expert in API testing, including API contract testing using mocks and API automation.
• UI automation using Selenium, Robot Framework and Python.
• Applied experience with version control systems such as Git and GitHub.
• Comfortable with SQL/NoSQL/in-memory databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis or Ignite.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix OS.
• Good analytical and communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work independently.
• Ability to clearly articulate and report risks and mitigations to management.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of virtualization and hypervisors (ESX, Hyper-V).
• Experience or exposure to AI, machine learning and related tools.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Curiosity and a mindset to challenge the status quo.
• Ability to identify and automate repeated day-to-day activities.
