Sr. Software Dev Engineer

Overview

Lead the development of AI-powered productivity tools and modern web applications for Yahoo’s Enterprise IT team. Design and deliver enterprise-grade software solutions using AI and cloud technologies to accelerate workflows and improve employee productivity.

What you'll do

• Design, architect, and deliver scalable AI-enabled software solutions that address complex business challenges.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across different time zones to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
• Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers across the team.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies and frameworks, including generative AI and large language models.
• Architect RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns and AI-enabled workflows that replace manual data processing with automated, intelligent systems.
• Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures using AWS or GCP services to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements, set technical direction, and deliver impactful solutions.
• Continuously monitor industry trends in AI productivity and quickly translate innovations into actionable solutions for employees.

What you'll need

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience for full stack development, DevOps, and AI/ML development, including recent experience in a senior developer role.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Golang or TypeScript.
• Experience integrating AI/ML technologies and services, such as LLMs, natural language processing, and machine learning APIs.
• Expertise in structured interaction with AI tools (prompt engineering) and the ability to exercise judgment in AI-augmented vs. manual development approaches.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and security best practices.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS and Google Cloud, and containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience in AI platforms, GenAI, and machine learning application development.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with strong attention to detail.
• A proactive attitude towards evolving skill sets and staying current with technology trends.
• Capability to lead in a collaborative environment involving developing solutions, presenting those solutions for review by peers, and training co-workers on the solutions.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
• Background in leading agile development teams and delivering high-impact software solutions at scale.

• Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working; most roles do not require specific regular patterns of in-person office attendance.
