Sr Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Software Engineer on PayPal’s Sales Technologies team, building scalable backend services, microservices, and APIs to support sales and servicing functions.

What you'll do

• Deliver complete solutions across the full SDLC including design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations.
• Design and develop enterprise Java backend services, microservices, and APIs.
• Build API-first REST APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Develop automated unit and functional tests for quality and maintainability.
• Use AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate development and automation.
• Deploy and manage applications on GCP using CI/CD and DevOps tools.
• Troubleshoot defects and performance bottlenecks to support reliable production systems.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise Java, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs, and Maven.
• Experience with microservices architecture and modern application architecture patterns.
• Experience with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as Harness.
• Experience with messaging (Kafka or RabbitMQ) and distributed caching (e.g., Redis).

Nice to have

• 7+ years of software development experience preferred.
• Familiarity with MCPs and AI application development is a plus.
