Sr Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Product Software Engineer on the content platform engineering team, building, supporting and enhancing platforms, workflows and products for data integrations, workflow orchestration and product development across Disney's entertainment and sports media supply chain.

What you'll do

• Write, test and deploy high-quality code to develop reliable, maintainable software solutions.
• Design and build scalable products, workflows and data integrations that deliver metadata transformations, validations, routing and enrichment for short-form and long-form media assets.
• Collaborate with product software engineers, platform engineers, product teams and content operations teams to ensure technical solutions support business goals and content strategies.
• Monitor and optimize production systems, ensuring platform stability, performance and uptime.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of full-stack experience building scalable, high-traffic backend services and responsive frontends.
• Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, React, Kafka and AWS.
• Solid understanding of state management patterns, component lifecycle, and React framework and libraries.
• Knowledge of front-end performance optimization techniques such as lazy loading, code splitting and caching.
• Familiarity with design systems, component libraries and UI frameworks.
• Strong expertise in microservices architecture, RESTful API design, database schemas (Relational and NoSQL) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proven track record in Agile environments, driving peer mentorship, conducting code reviews and collaborating across cross-functional teams (Product, DevOps, QA).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working with advanced AI developer tools and custom agentic workflows to accelerate the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, messaging technologies or event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS/SQS, ActiveMQ, or similar).
• Familiarity with advanced backend technologies such as gRPC, GraphQL or reactive programming frameworks.
• Establish and maintain strict architectural guidelines, naming conventions and design patterns to ensure AI-generated code meets enterprise standards for security, maintainability and clean code principles.
• Knowledge of streaming workflows, video content delivery or media distribution pipelines.
• Previous experience working in media, entertainment or sports tech environments.
