Overview
Design, build, and support secure, scalable backend solutions for the HR AI Shed team. Deliver intelligent HR capabilities through Java and Spring Boot backend development alongside Python-based AI development.
What you'll do
- Design and develop scalable backend applications and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
- Build Python services, automation, and AI-enabled components that support HR AI use cases.
- Design and implement AI agents using MCP, ADK, tool integrations, and orchestration patterns.
- Develop secure integrations between AI services, enterprise systems, data platforms, and HR applications.
- Create event-driven solutions using Kafka and other messaging technologies to support asynchronous processing and real-time data exchange.
- Design, optimize, and maintain data models and access patterns for PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other relational or NoSQL databases.
- Build resilient distributed systems with appropriate error handling, retries, observability, logging, and monitoring.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy, scale, and operate services on Kubernetes.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, and automated quality gates.
- Apply secure software development practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and secure API design.
- Collaborate with product managers, HR stakeholders, architects, data scientists, and engineers to refine requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, technical design sessions, and production support activities.
- Mentor engineers, promote engineering standards, and contribute to continuous improvement across the HR AI Shed team.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis through permanent, scalable fixes.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with event streaming and messaging platforms, especially Kafka.
- Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
- Strong understanding of microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, and secure software development practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in Python for backend services, automation, or AI development.
- Experience developing AI agents, including use of MCP, ADK, tool integrations, and orchestration patterns.

- Based at an on-site office in Bengaluru.
- The HR AI Shed operates through a hybrid U.S.–India delivery model, with an estimated 50/50 distribution across both locations.
