Sr Software Engineer

Overview

Evolent is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to be a key contributor in building scalable, secure, and high-performance healthcare applications, with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using ASP.NET MVC, Web forms, .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server
• Contribute to the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and production support
• Design scalable and secure solutions by applying design patterns and principles
• Provide technical leadership to the team, conduct design/code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Collaborate with product owners, QA, and other stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality features
• Drive performance optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Contribute to modernization initiatives, including migration to cloud-native or microservices-based architectures
• Identify and recommend new technologies and tools to improve system performance, scalability, and developer productivity
• Participate in deployment, release management, and production stability improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture

What you'll need

• 6+ years of experience in software development
• Strong hands-on experience with ASP.NET / .NET Core
• Strong hands-on experience with C#
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure resources (functions, storage, keyvalut, App Config, App insights)
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Solid understanding of design patterns and principles (SOLID, etc.)
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices
• Experience in building scalable web applications and APIs
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment
• Experience with code reviews, CI/CD, and version control systems (Git)
• Experience using AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools

Nice to have

• Experience integrating AI services, models, or agents into production applications
• Experience in application modernization / legacy transformation
• Exposure to microservices architecture, cloud (Azure), or distributed systems
• Knowledge of healthcare domain / EMR / payer systems
• Experience with performance tuning and security practices
