Sr Staff Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead a team and work hands-on across a platform portfolio spanning the application lifecycle, modernization initiatives, and backend system maintenance.

What you'll do

• Provide technical leadership while directly designing, building, debugging, and shipping critical parts.
• Diagnose and resolve complex, customer-impacting issues in established backend systems.
• Champion engineering best practices and security standards across a varied tech footprint.
• Apply judgment on how AI fits into the development workflow and set AI guardrails.
• Mentor engineers across multiple technology areas and support innovation and continuous improvement.
• Negotiate technical boundaries with partner engineering teams on cross-organizational efforts.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building high-scale, cloud-based systems.
• Deep proficiency in Java for designing, building, maintaining, and modifying production Java services.
• Working proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or similar modern web/backend stacks.
• Strong understanding of concurrency and resource management for services at scale.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and service-to-service protocol design (e.g., gRPC/protobuf).
• Deep experience with authentication and session systems.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring engineers and negotiating technical scope across teams.
