Overview

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, design, develop, test, deploy, operate, and maintain complex software systems while leading projects and contributing to high-impact software solutions. Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the technical foundation behind products and services.

What you'll do

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for software applications and systems.
• Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of complex software applications and systems, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
• Manage execution and delivery of features and projects, negotiate project priorities and deadlines, and ensure successful and timely completion with quality.
• Participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders and in the architectural design of new features and systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Review code developed by other engineers, provide feedback, and maintain a high bar of technical excellence, including coding guidelines, elegant, efficient and maintainable code, observability built from the ground up, and unit tests.
• Build testable software, define tests, participate in the testing process, and automate tests using tools such as Junit and Selenium and design patterns guided by the test automation pyramid.
• Maintain the health and quality of services and incidents, proactively identify and resolve issues, use service health indicators and telemetry to provide recommendations to optimize performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement measures to prevent future recurrences.
• Work in a DevOps model, taking ownership from product management requirements through design, development, testing, continuous deployment, and production operation.
• Document new features, enhancements, and fixes to the product and contribute to training materials.
• Mentor junior colleagues.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep expertise in one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, .NET, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Extensive experience with software development practices and design patterns.
• Proficiency with version control systems like GitHub and bug/work tracking systems like JIRA.
• Understanding of cloud technologies and DevOps principles.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with developing accessible solutions.
• Strong customer empathy by understanding and addressing user needs and challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
