Overview
Sr Support Engineer (SQL DBA) responsible for end-to-end administration of enterprise-scale SQL Server environments with a focus on Azure SQL, including performance tuning, security, HA/DR, and production incident support.
What you'll do
- Design and implement SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure.
- Build scalable, cost-optimized Azure SQL Database solutions, including elastic pools and serverless models.
- Own and enforce database governance, standards, and best practices.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization for Azure SQL workloads.
- Lead HA/DR implementations including Always On, clustering, log shipping, replication, and cloud-based DR.
- Define and implement database security, auditing, and compliance.
- Automate administrative and monitoring tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or DevOps pipelines.
What you'll need
- 5 - 10 years of progressive experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments including OnPrem and Azure SQL.
- Deep expertise in SQL Server administration for versions 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019/2022.
- Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database features including DTU/vCore models, Elastic Pools, Serverless, and Hyperscale.
- Experience with Azure SQL HA/DR options including Geo-Replication and Failover Groups.
- Proven experience with large-scale database environments (VLDBs, high concurrency systems).
- Proficiency in monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Query Store.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science/Electronics (preferred) or equivalent diploma.
