Staff Backend Engineer

Overview

Staff Backend Engineer/Tech Lead for a payments-focused team in a US SaaS fintech. Build and maintain backend systems, partnering cross-functionally while improving engineering practices and service reliability.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain payment-team backend systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product and design.
• Participate in sprint planning, feasibility assessments, and code reviews.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with focus on scalability, security, and performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues and deliver timely resolutions.
• Improve SDLC processes and engineering best practices.

What you'll need

• 8-12 years of backend engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in backend languages, with Go or Ruby preferred.
• Strong understanding of the payments domain.
• Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong skills in RESTful API development.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with payment gateway integrations.
• Familiarity with PCI compliance and secure coding practices.
• Skills in performance optimization (e.g., DB, code).
• Exposure to GCP or other cloud platforms.
