Staff Engineer

Overview

Staff Data Engineer role to help set the technical direction for NexusOne’s data platform and mentor engineers across the organization.

What you'll do

• Define and drive the technical architecture and long-term roadmap for the company’s data platform.
• Lead the design of large-scale, high-reliability data pipelines and systems across multiple teams.
• Set engineering standards for data modeling, testing, observability, and pipeline design.
• Mentor senior and mid-level data engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and platforms to improve scalability and reliability.
• Lead root-cause analysis for complex, cross-system data incidents and drive systemic fixes.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of professional data engineering experience, including designing large-scale data systems.
• Experience leading end-to-end architecture of complex data platforms.
• Deep expertise in SQL and at least one data engineering programming language (Python/Scala/Java).
• Proven track record setting technical direction and influencing engineering standards across teams.
• Extensive experience with cloud data platforms, data warehousing, and pipeline orchestration at scale.
• Strong communication skills, including presenting technical strategy to engineering and business stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring and developing other engineers.
