What you'll do

  • Evaluate, create, build, bench test, debug, and perform failure analysis of firmware for high-performance memory controllers and SSDs.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary engineers to address multifunctional product development issues.
  • Triage failures and file bug reports.
  • Help development teams isolate issues.
  • Recreate and trap problems.
  • Identify performance-critical algorithms for optimization.
  • Configure and debug issues using ASIC register settings in an SoC and embedded firmware development environment.
  • Scope and estimate development effort.
  • Work and communicate effectively in a team and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools for firmware development, debugging, automation, test generation, log analysis, and productivity improvement.
  • Leverage AI technologies responsibly to accelerate engineering outcomes while maintaining high-quality standards.

What you'll need

  • 6-15 Years in SSD/Storage Firmware Development would be a strong plus.
  • Strong firmware design and debug experience using assembly and C programming.
  • Knowledge of NAND flash, SSD flash translation layer, wear leveling, and garbage collection.
  • Knowledge of backend SLC, MLC, and QLC concepts in the architecture of solid-state drives (SSDs) and flash memory.
  • Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as SATA and SAS.
  • Knowledge of configuring and debugging issues from the usage of register settings of ASICs in an SoC and embedded firmware development environment.
  • High level of skill in problem recreation and trapping, and in identifying performance-critical algorithms for optimization.
  • Strong skill in ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse.
  • Ability to scope and estimate development effort.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools for firmware development, debugging, automation, test generation, log analysis, and productivity improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to responsibly leverage AI technologies to accelerate engineering outcomes while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent required.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as NVMe.
  • Working knowledge of digital hardware design.
  • Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and maintain positive relationships.
  • Ambitious, goal-oriented, and a dedicated colleague.
