Overview
Develop high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems and Solid State Drives (SSD). Evaluate, create, build, bench test, debug and analyze firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and SSDs.
What you'll do
- Assist in the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging and failure analysis of firmware for memory controllers and SSDs.
- Partner with multidisciplinary engineers to seek solutions to multifunctional product development issues.
- Triage failures and file bug reports.
- Help development teams isolate issues.
- Recreate and trap problems.
- Identify performance-critical algorithms for optimization.
- Scope and estimate development effort.
- Work and communicate effectively in a team and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools for firmware development, debugging, automation, test generation, log analysis and productivity improvement.
- Responsibly leverage AI technologies to accelerate engineering outcomes while maintaining high-quality standards.
What you'll need
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong firmware design and debugging experience using assembly and C programming.
- Knowledge and experience of NAND flash, SSD flash translation layer, wear leveling and garbage collection.
- Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as SATA and SAS.
- Strong knowledge of Flash Translation Layer (FTL) and SSD firmware concepts.
- Knowledge of configuring and debugging issues using register settings of ASICs in an SoC and an embedded firmware development environment.
- High level of skill in problem recreation and trapping, and in identifying performance-critical algorithms for optimization.
- Strong skill in ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse.
- Ability to scope and estimate development effort.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools for firmware development, debugging, automation, test generation, log analysis and productivity improvement.
Nice to have
- 6-15 Years in SSD/Storage Firmware Development.
- Knowledge of NVMe.
- Working knowledge of digital hardware design.
- Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive relationships.
- Ambitious, goal-oriented and a dedicated colleague.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic team environment.
