Staff Engineer , ESSD Validation

Overview

Lead SSD firmware validation strategy and automation for Micron NAND-based SSD systems across development, qualification, customer enablement, and sustaining activities. Partner with engineering teams and hyperscale customers while applying AI-enabled methods to improve validation quality and productivity.

What you'll do

• Define validation strategies, test plans, test cases, and automation frameworks.
• Develop automated tests for functional, performance, reliability, interoperability, and qualification requirements.
• Lead validation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Debug issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive closure across organizations.
• Analyze results, identify quality risks, and recommend mitigations.
• Apply AI and machine learning to test development, failure analysis, anomaly detection, and reporting.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional validation teams.

What you'll need

• 6–12 years of experience in embedded firmware, storage systems, or SSD validation engineering.
• Strong understanding of SSD architecture, NAND flash, NVMe, PCIe, and OCP Cloud SSD specifications.
• Strong Python programming and test automation framework development skills.
• Experience with Linux and Windows debugging, protocol analyzers, and storage validation tools.
• Experience integrating tests into automated and continuous integration environments.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, analytical, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• 4+ years of SSD firmware validation experience.
• Experience with datacenter, enterprise, cloud storage, or hyperscale customers.
• Experience applying AI/ML to validation, quality engineering, or system analytics.
• Experience building predictive quality models or intelligent test orchestration systems.
