Overview
Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Ad Serving) to lead marketplace intelligence and demand optimization for Roku Exchange and its real-time advertising platforms.
What you'll do
- Drive improvements in marketplace efficiency by optimizing pricing, allocation, and auctions.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into hypotheses, measurable objectives, and actionable strategies.
- Develop advanced ML models and research-based methodologies to improve product and business outcomes.
- Design and run live experiments to prototype and validate improvements.
- Build production-grade ML systems for large-scale, low-latency ad serving environments.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define and drive ML strategy for Ad Serving.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship for ML, experimentation frameworks, and applied research.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of industry experience applying machine learning and data science to solve real-world, mission-critical problems.
- Deep expertise in statistics, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
- Experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed ML systems as a staff+ technologist.
- Hands-on production experience building and deploying ML models, including feature engineering, model serving, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Strong software engineering skills in Python, SQL, and Java/Scala.
- Strong CS fundamentals to translate ideas into clean, efficient code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven track record leading cross-functional teams and initiatives.
- Publications in leading peer-reviewed conferences or academic journals as a plus.
- Expertise in advertising as a plus.
Details
- Hybrid work approach: teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday; Fridays are generally flexible for remote work with exceptions.
- For New York only, estimated annual salary is between $195,000 and $510,000.
