Overview
Staff Network Engineer responsible for the resilience, security, health, and availability of Okta’s global corporate network. The operations-focused role covers incident response, reliability engineering, automation, and long-term network strategy.
What you'll do
- Design and own global corporate network resilience, health, and availability.
- Respond to alerts, monitor health indicators, and execute reliability projects.
- Automate network operations and build scalable self-service tooling.
- Reduce systemic toil and technical debt across multiple teams.
- Lead resolution of complex network operations issues and prevent future outages.
- Collaborate with Business Technology, Workplace, Security, and executive stakeholders.
- Mentor team members through the P4 level.
What you'll need
- 8+ years of related professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 6+ years with a Master’s degree, or 3+ years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
- Deep expertise in AWS Networking.
- Deep expertise in Palo Alto Networks solutions.
- Operational experience with distributed systems and networking fundamentals.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms, Terraform or Ansible, Prometheus or Grafana, Python or Go, and SLOs or SLIs.
- Experience managing protocols and technologies including WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, ACLs, routing, and firewall policies.
- Experience managing operational availability and delivering multi-quarter technical objectives.
Nice to have
- Experience with Juniper or JUNOS switching and routing.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks NGFWs.
- Experience with enterprise office build and construction processes.
- Experience mentoring peers and eliminating manual toil through innovation.
