Staff Software Engineer

Overview

Staff Software Engineer (Android) role on the mobile team, owning major parts of the Android SDKs and driving high-quality Android feature delivery.

What you'll do

• Own the design and delivery of high-impact Android features from concept through production release.
• Drive Android architecture decisions and document technical tradeoffs.
• Build and maintain clean, testable Android code using modern development practices.
• Ensure app quality via robust testing, code reviews, and release readiness (crash monitoring and profiling).
• Partner cross-functionally to define contracts and handle edge cases with Backend/API teams.
• Improve developer velocity by upgrading tooling, CI/CD, build times, and shared mobile foundations.
• Mentor and level up other engineers through technical guidance and feedback in reviews.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of professional Android development experience delivering production mobile apps at scale.
• Strong Kotlin proficiency and experience with modern Android frameworks (Jetpack Compose and/or Views, Lifecycle, ViewModel, Navigation).
• Ability to design and evolve Android app architecture for maintainability and scalability.
• Strong understanding of concurrency/async patterns on Android (Coroutines, Flow, threading, structured concurrency).
• Experience integrating REST APIs and building robust data layers, including SQLite and caching.
• Strong testing discipline (unit, integration, UI) and familiarity with release practices and play store deployment.
• Ability to lead complex end-to-end technical work through ambiguity with stakeholder coordination.
