Staff+ Software Engineer, Claude App Infrastructure

Overview

Build and operate infrastructure that powers Claude App on claude.ai, focusing on reliability, agentic execution, and safe, scalable serving.

What you'll do

• Design and build sandboxed compute environments for code execution and tool/service access.
• Develop state management for long-running agent tasks with checkpoints, recovery, and resumption.
• Create authentication and authorization frameworks for delegated, secure access.
• Build observability and debugging tools to understand agent execution outcomes and improve them.
• Partner with product and research teams to define feasible capabilities and ship them.

What you'll need

• Experience building distributed systems, infrastructure, or platform services at scale.
• Ability to build cloud-native infrastructure on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with containers, sandboxing, or secure execution environments (e.g., gVisor, Firecracker, V8 isolates).
• Clean, maintainable coding experience in Python, Go, Rust, or a similar language.
• Care about security, isolation, and systems that fail safely.

Details

• Annual salary range: $320,000–$485,000 USD.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• Location-based hybrid policy: expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.
• Visa sponsorship is available for some roles and candidates.
