Staff Software Engineer, Core AI Infrastructure

Overview

Build and operate reliable, observable, and secure infrastructure powering Coinbase's AI products. Deliver distributed systems, developer tooling, and full-stack applications across the software development lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Build production-grade distributed systems for AI serving, data pipelines, and deployment orchestration.
• Design APIs, abstractions, and developer tooling for platform adoption.
• Align infrastructure requirements and resolve technical dependencies across engineering and product teams.
• Establish architectural patterns and engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and improve code quality, observability, and operational excellence.
• Build internal AI applications and infrastructure using Go or Python.

What you'll need

• 8+ years automating and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure and network environments.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt.
• Production experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Docker and Kubernetes workloads.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, Ruby, or Go.
• Experience with Git-based CI/CD workflows.
• Experience designing reusable infrastructure, APIs, and abstractions adopted by multiple engineering teams.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

• Remote in the United States, with quarterly in-person working sessions.
• Annual base salary: $218,025–$256,500 USD.
