Staff Software Engineer (L4)

Overview

Staff Software Engineer (L4) on Twilio’s Segment Data platform/pipelines team, building and scaling high-throughput data ingestion and processing systems.

What you'll do

• Design and deliver robust, high-scale routing for the Data platform/pipelines team.
• Ship features focused on high availability and throughput with eventual consistency.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leads across Twilio Segment.
• Support the reliability and security of the platform.
• Build and optimize globally available, highly scalable distributed systems.
• Act as a team tech lead as needed and mentor engineers on architecture and design.
• Partner with application teams to deliver end-to-end customer success.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with high-scale messaging/streaming systems (several thousand events/sec) and processing engines (1M+ events/sec).
• Strong experience designing and implementing highly available, performant, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Programming experience in Go, Java, Scala, or similar languages.
• Strong concurrent programming and solid grasp of Linux systems and networking concepts.
• Experience operating distributed systems on cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP.

Details

• Role is remote and based in India (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana, Delhi).
• Occasional travel may be required for in-person project or team meetings.
