Staff+ Software Engineer, Safeguards Data

Overview

Software engineer on Anthropic’s Safeguards team, building data pipelines, stores, and governance controls that support model monitoring, misuse prevention, and user well-being.

What you’ll do

• Build and operate the Safeguards data platform, including ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Maintain data stores such as warehouses, plus schemas and interfaces for detection and review systems.
• Run Safeguards systems day to day while reducing manual effort needed to sustain them.
• Own data governance and integrity, including retention and access controls for sensitive data.
• Design portability so systems run across cloud providers within customer-managed and third-party constraints.
• Partner with analysts, investigators, and researchers and build internal tooling they depend on.

What you’ll need

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience building and operating data pipelines or data stores in production.
• Ability to work across the data stack, including ingestion, storage, and consumption.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical tradeoffs.

• Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
