Overview
Support environmental investigation, remediation, and restoration programs by editing, formatting, and quality-controlling complex technical documents for government clients.
What you'll do
- Review technical documents for grammar, clarity, consistency, organization, and terminology.
- Check consistency across text, tables, figures, appendices, references, acronyms, units, and supporting data.
- Perform document-level QA/QC to identify missing, conflicting, or incorrect information and formatting issues.
- Apply client and project style guides, templates, formatting standards, and document-control requirements.
- Coordinate with technical personnel to incorporate figures and supporting materials.
- Compile and deliver electronic documents according to project and client requirements.
- Manage multiple documents and priorities while meeting schedules and deadlines.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in English, technical communication, communication, journalism, or a related discipline.
- Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, and professional writing conventions.
- Ability to edit complex technical material without changing its technical meaning.
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office.
- Working proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality control.
- Ability to work with technical professionals and communicate editorial recommendations clearly.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with complex, multi-author technical reports.
- Experience with SharePoint or electronic document management systems.
- Environmental, regulatory, or advanced Microsoft Word experience.
Details
- Remote/teleworker position in the United States.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
- Must pass a Public Trust background investigation.
- Pay range: $45,500–$82,250 per year.
