Technical Specialist - Controls Engineering

Overview

Lead controls engineering for Carrier HVAC products across model-based design, verification, troubleshooting, laboratory validation, field trials, and fleet support.

What you'll do

• Manage a team of 5–7 controls engineers delivering controls solutions.
• Support project planning, execution, risk mitigation, and technical reviews.
• Oversee model-based design processes and technical work quality.
• Lead controls COE initiatives focused on technology and process improvement.
• Capture and decompose system requirements with traceability.
• Develop control architectures and early-stage designs for PLC, RCP, and HIL setups.
• Analyze MIL results and support laboratory testing and fleet issue resolution.

What you'll need

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Control Systems or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 9 years of controls application development experience.
• Strong controls engineering and model-based design knowledge.
• Proficiency with Matlab-based tools for design, MIL, implementation, and validation.
• Experience leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams and large-scope projects.
• Experience with industrial controls, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and vapor-compression cycles.
• Experience with requirements management, system integration, and MIL, SIL, and HIL testing.
