Overview
Technical Support Engineer for Building Automation Systems, providing on-demand technical support to branch offices and supporting networking, integration, commissioning, and field training.
What you'll do
- Troubleshoot complex problems and provide technical expertise to branch offices.
- Coordinate with headquarters to generate and document best practices for networking and deployments.
- Provide integration and Master System Integrator (MSI) support for AL C branch offices, including new integration offerings.
- Support project commissioning and participate in large project and pre-bid reviews as needed.
- Identify technical risks and assist local teams with risk mitigation planning.
- Develop or support sustainable offerings complementing WebCTRL building automation systems.
- Create/update training content and facilitate Field Engineer boot camps.
- Assist with hiring and mentor Field Engineer Supervisors and Field Engineers as requested.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience in BAS technical support, or High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of building automation and construction projects.
- Technical understanding of BAS network protocols including BACnet/IP, BACnet/MSTP, BACnet/Arcnet, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, LonWorks, and N2.
- Knowledge of BAS integration techniques and BACnet network fundamentals including BBMDs and foreign device registration.
- Network troubleshooting skills using monitoring tools (DLcapture, Wireshark, Oscilloscope, Modscan or equivalent).
- Ability to design IP networks (IP routing, VLANs, firewalls, BBMDs) aligned with cybersecurity best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, MS Projects, etc.).
