Technology Operations Engineer

Overview

Provide Level 1.5 and Level 2 operational support and deployment for enterprise LAN/WAN and network infrastructure in a 24/7 environment. Lead medium to small projects involving operational support and deployment of information technology infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Provide Level 1.5 and Level 2 operational support for enterprise LAN/WAN and network infrastructure in a 24/7 environment.
• Troubleshoot ISP, site, store, connectivity, network performance, and store-related network infrastructure issues.
• Coordinate with Internet service providers and third-party vendors on issues and follow-ups.
• Configure, monitor, manage, and support Juniper switches, access points, routers, and Juniper Mist.
• Configure, monitor, manage, and support Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and SD-WAN technologies.
• Diagnose routing issues involving EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, iBGP, and eBGP.
• Support IP services including DNS and DHCP.
• Manage incidents, service requests, and follow-ups using ServiceNow and other ticketing or network management tools.
• Lead medium to small infrastructure projects involving network planning, design, deployment, implementation, operational support, and documentation.
• Maintain network availability, reliability, security, and compliance.
• Design and implement complex network infrastructure solutions.
• Work with network diagnostic and management tools.
• Configure and manage network routers and switches.
• Design and implement firewall and/or security platform solutions.
• Work with load balancing technologies.
• Design and implement IP services, DNS, and/or DHCP solutions.
• Provide first or second level support for enterprise IT systems, including diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents.
• Write technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment.
• Work with third-party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers.
• Work with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
• Work with defect or incident tracking software.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 3 years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development.
• Experience with systems, including infrastructure and applications, management, diagnostics, and support.
• Familiarity with networking, server, and storage technologies and with n-tier architectures.
• Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting Juniper devices including switches, access points, routers, and Juniper Mist.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow and ticketing tools.
• Hands-on experience in SD-WAN technology.
• Expertise in data and voice network topology and technology skillsets.
• Knowledge of IP routing fundamentals.
• Experience with routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, iBGP, and eBGP.
• CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional certification is mandatory.
• 3 years of experience leading technical or project teams with or without direct reports.
• 3 years of work experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior management at Director level or higher.
• 3 years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
• 3 years of IT experience in the retail industry.
• Knowledge of one or more of the following: Unix/Linux/Windows server administration experience (RedHat); configuration management and automation tools; database administration experience (RDBMS, NoSQL); messaging technologies (MQ, Kafka); web server experience (Apache, Nginx); application containers (Jboss); core services including NTP, proxy, mail, and DNS; IT security; public/private cloud technology; scripting languages; object-oriented languages; and big data technologies (Splunk).

Nice to have

• Fortinet certifications or equivalent firewall certifications.
