VP - Senior Data Engineer

Overview

As VP – Senior Data Engineer in BlackRock’s Private Markets Data Engineering team, you will lead hands-on data and analytics infrastructure initiatives as a senior individual contributor and technical authority.

What you'll do

• Provide hands-on technical leadership for PMDE team data architecture and engineering decisions.
• Design and implement AI-ready data platform capabilities such as semantic data layers, knowledge graphs, vector stores, and metadata-driven architectures.
• Define and evolve business semantic models, measures, dimensions, ontologies, and governed data products.
• Architect knowledge graph solutions for entity resolution, relationship intelligence, and multi-hop reasoning.
• Build intent-driven data access patterns to route requests across structured data, semantic models, graph databases, and unstructured repositories.
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms, focusing on Snowflake, SQL, and Python.

What you'll need

• Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, and Python.
• Experience in senior technical roles, including leading complex initiatives and providing technical direction.
• Experience designing and implementing semantic data models, business ontologies, data products, and metadata-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with graph database technologies (Neo4j or equivalent) and graph modeling patterns.
• Experience building AI-ready data platforms using vector databases, document retrieval systems, and RAG architectures.
• Strong understanding of enterprise metadata management, data catalogs, lineage, governance, and business glossary concepts.
• Experience integrating LLMs, AI agents, copilots, or agentic workflows with enterprise data platforms.
