Overview

Software/Data Engineer focused on building scalable data processing and distributed pipelines using Spark and Amazon EMR, with integration into AI/ML workflows.

What you'll do

• Design and develop scalable data processing solutions using Spark and Amazon EMR.
• Build and maintain batch and distributed data pipelines.
• Develop software components for data transformation and feature preparation.
• Integrate data pipelines with AI or machine learning workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering, AI, and product teams to operationalize data/model use cases.
• Optimize pipeline performance, cost efficiency, scalability, and production reliability.
• Troubleshoot data and application issues across development and production.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Spark and distributed data processing.
• Experience with Amazon EMR or comparable cloud-based distributed data processing platforms.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or a related programming language.
• Exposure to AI or machine learning workflows and model integration/data preparation.
• Strong understanding of scalable data architecture and performance optimization.
• Ability to bridge software engineering and data engineering responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, Airflow, data lakes, or data warehouse ecosystems.
• Familiarity with MLOps, feature stores, or AI platform integration.
• Experience with AWS-native services and observability tooling.
• Enterprise experience strongly preferred.

Details

• Location: Bogotá, Bogota, Colombia.
• Work mode: Remote contract role with LATAM (excluding Mexico) eligibility and U.S. Central Time coverage requirement.
• Full-time allocation: approximately 40 hours/week.
• Contract end date: March 31, 2027.
