Overview
Join Pitney Bowes as an Advisory Software Engineer serving as a Windows System Administrator within a corporate IT operations organization. Support enterprise Wintel, VMware, HCI and cloud environments, maintaining reliable, secure, available and well-documented systems.
What you'll do
- Maintain and update VMware environments in line with standards.
- Support operational demand in a cost-effective manner.
- Assist project delivery.
- Provide reports and metrics for operations analysis and capacity planning.
- Administer VMware ESX/ESXi 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and 8.0 environments using vSphere.
- Implement, administer and document VMware and HCI technologies.
- Support VMware capabilities including vMotion, HA, DRS, HCI/VCF, vSAN, affinity rules, vCenter, storage migrations and P2V migrations.
- Provide 24x7 operational support for incidents and work requests across multiple data centers and VMware ESX/Nutanix environments.
- Optimize VMware environments for SAN storage, thin provisioning, resource pools, host profiles and EMC plug-ins.
- Work with enterprise network and storage technologies, including FC SAN, iSCSI and 10Gb networks.
- Create, migrate, clone, back up, recover and troubleshoot virtual machines.
- Perform system maintenance, patching, upgrades, health checks, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Create and maintain accurate, high-quality technical documentation.
- Manage templates, VM deployments, configurations, ESX host LUN assignments and Virtual Center database administration.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot ESX server environments, including snapshot creation and recovery.
- Apply ITIL practices for incident, problem and change-related activities.
- Manage Active Directory environments, including user accounts, groups, permissions, security policies and access audits.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate Active Directory with other systems and applications.
What you'll need
- 6-8 years of experience.
- Any undergraduate degree in any specialization.
- Strong hands-on experience in Wintel administration.
- Practical knowledge of VMware, HCI and enterprise infrastructure operations.
- VMware and Windows Server Administration.
- VMware Administration at L2/L3 level.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
- Commitment to quality, ownership and continuous improvement.
Nice to have
- Experience with HP/Dell server hardware.
- Working knowledge of VMC on AWS and Nutanix environments.
- Knowledge of VMware Site Recovery Manager and replication.
- Understanding of AD service concepts, configuration, management, monitoring and reporting.
- Ability to work with project teams to build new application environments while maintaining security and system standards.
- Experience in incident management, system failure analysis, recovery and environment stability.
- Problem management skills, including root-cause analysis, solution development and issue resolution.
- PrinterLogic administration, print issue troubleshooting, user training and print usage analysis.
- Scripting skills, including PowerShell and VSHELL, for automation tasks.
- Remote Desktop Services administration, configuration, security and end-user support.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk and vROps.
- Experience with Snowflake Administration or other cloud-based platforms.
- VMware certification.
- AWS certification.
- Azure certification.

- Location: Pune, India.
- Rotational shifts are required.
- 24x7 operational support is required for incidents and work requests.
- Weekend on-call support is expected approximately once per month.
- Public holiday on-call support is rotational.
