Overview
As a Software Engineer III, you will build SaaS solutions for government agencies and lead delivery of new features and improvements in a fast-paced, agile environment using ReactJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, and NodeJS.
What you'll do
- Collaborate across the organization to understand and translate business priorities into shipped features delivering customer success.
- Generate clean, efficient, and well-documented software following industry best practices.
- Independently design and develop high-quality features that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Drive continuous improvement of development processes, tools and operational excellence.
- Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
- Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption and quality.
What you'll need
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated experience in working with customers to improve product experiences.
- Experience working across the stack (frontend + backend) and comfort shipping features end-to-end.
- Experience building with AI-driven UX, agents, and workflow automation; direct ML experience is not required.
- Expertise in authentication and authorisation technologies including Auth0, OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC, Re-BAC, FGA, etc.
- Experience implementing secure Authn/Authz flows with roles, claims, and fine-grained access management.
- BA/BS in a computer-science-related discipline or equivalent experience required.
- 7+ years of professional experience in software development.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS is required.
- Proficiency in data structures, database concepts and algorithms is required.
- Proficiency in observability concepts is required.
- Proficiency in GraphQL APIs is required.
Nice to have
- Experience building software using event-driven architecture is highly desirable.
