AI Application Engineer

Overview

Lead modernization of legacy VB6 and IBM i (AS400) applications using AI-assisted development and Microsoft cloud technologies. The role focuses on code conversion, testing, documentation, deployment, and scalable cloud-ready solutions.

What you'll do

• Modernize applications built with VB6, Synon, RPG, RPGLE, CLP, and IBM i technologies.
• Use Generative AI, GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, and AI-assisted tools for code analysis, conversion, testing, and documentation.
• Design and execute migrations from legacy platforms to Microsoft technologies.
• Develop applications with C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, and .NET MAUI.
• Design API-first architectures and Azure-based integrations.
• Lead AI-driven modernization proofs of concept and pilots.
• Mentor teams on modernization approaches, AI tools, and Microsoft platforms.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• At least 5 years of VB6 application development and maintenance experience.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications to Microsoft technologies.
• Experience delivering large-scale modernization or migration programs.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and Generative AI.
• Experience with enterprise applications and complex integrations.

Nice to have

• Experience converting VB6 applications to .NET MAUI, WinUI, or modern Microsoft technologies.
• Experience modernizing Synon, RPG, RPGLE, or AS400 applications.
• Experience with Azure-based modernization programs.
• Microsoft Azure certifications.
