Analyst

Overview

Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on the loans and properties that collateralize CMBS transactions, and assist the onshore team with loan and research write-ups and special projects.

What you'll do

• Provide accurate and timely assistance with basic data and preliminary tasks supporting research and analysis of CMBS properties.
• Retrieve, analyze, research and report CMBS pool-level and property-level performance accurately and on time.
• Identify and analyze risky assets based on qualitative and quantitative factors.
• Identify macro and micro risk factors, including market, property type, tenant and borrower, to determine and measure exposure within CMBS pools and loan portfolios.
• Monitor, analyze and prepare executive summary reporting on CMBS transactions, including investigation of potential default or loss scenarios for underlying real estate loan collateral.
• Communicate with other Morningstar Analysts and third-party contacts to collect data and information for quality, timely reporting within prescribed time frames.
• Research and respond to internal and external inquiries on specific aspects of assigned CMBS pools, providing information on major credits or portfolio concentrations and evaluating them relative to bond class holdings.
• Write monthly research reports and transaction snapshots, including commentary and opinion for Morningstar clients.

What you'll need

• 1-3 years' relevant experience in the credit research domain.
• Working knowledge of CMBS transactions.
• Intermediate-level Excel skills.
• Strong English-language skills, particularly writing.

Nice to have

• Credit ratings experience.
• Master's degree, CFA, or FRM.

• Location: Mumbai.
• Hybrid work model; in most locations, four days in-office each week.
