Associate Analyst

Overview

Associate Analyst role in Datacenter Operations, responsible for batch job processing, backup and recovery, and maintaining operational uptime and SLAs on IBM System i (iSeries) environments.

What you'll do

• Develop and document batch job processes, and launch and monitor batch processes
• Perform data restoration using BRMS (System i)
• Maintain high operational uptime and stringent SLAs through timely batch processing and request management
• Coordinate with applications and development teams, and with other operational and project-based teams
• Verify that turnover between shifts is transitioned wholly and in detail, and provide daily communications and updates with all shifts
• Start nightly batch processing, monitor its progress, complete cleanup tasks, and convey status as required
• Execute backup and recovery tasks, including tape setup and mounting, tape post-processing and dismounting, for both physical and virtual tape
• Document issues and escalate them to the appropriate support groups
• Work with third-party tape management and inventory solutions
• Manage offsite tape inventory (Iron Mountain) and audit offsite tape invoices, engaging the vendor as needed
• Interact daily with the Midrange Systems group and publish daily activity and problem logs
• Mentor teammates and develop KPIs and operational standards
• Perform additional duties as directed

What you'll need

• 3+ years working with IBM System iSeries (AS400) in the role of Datacenter Operator
• 2+ years working with IBM BRMS Tape Management
• Experience with iSeries operations, including BRMS and Advanced Job Scheduler
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Understanding of Backup and Recovery (BRMS)
• Hands-on experience on MIMIX/iCluster
• Hands-on experience using the iSeries command line using HMC
• Ability to develop shifts and job schedules and delegate to a team
• High attention to detail for batch job execution and monitoring
• Basic understanding of networking topology and protocols
• Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, with IT and business users
• Ready to work in 24x7 shifts
• Ready to work from office
