Overview
The Associate Engineer - Mechanical will work on NPI and NTI projects for Bussmann UL products, supporting product design, development, compliance, validation, testing and release for national and international markets.
What you'll do
- Support NPI and NTI projects for Bussmann UL products.
- Ensure product compliance with global design standards including UL, IEC and NEMA.
- Support system and component sizing, designing, simulation and testing activities for fuses and fusible switches.
- Modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, regulatory, industry-standard and market requirements through the Change Management process.
- Work on multiple NPI and NTI programs and projects to achieve business goals and Profit Plan objectives.
- Own end-to-end projects and deliverables including product conceptualization, detailing, design validation and product testing.
- Work in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams to make technology and engineering decisions for project execution.
- Design, validate and release systems, subsystems and components independently and through a team of engineers.
- Create CAD drawings, detailing, 3D models and assemblies, and ensure their release in PLM and ERP systems according to the project plan.
- Contribute to test plans in accordance with IEC and UL standards.
- Create test object requirements, plan assembly, and finalize test parameters and instrumentation.
- Conduct tests while ensuring deployment of standard practices.
- Contribute with leads to creating Intellectual Property documents around new product design concepts and ideas.
What you'll need
- BE or M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 0-3 years of experience.
- Technical knowledge and experience in the design and development of mechanical products such as sheet metal products, cast or machined products and plastic products, including relevant design practices and standards.
- Hands-on experience creating part detailing and designs, drawings, 3D models of parts and assemblies, and 2D dimensioning and tolerance of parts.
- Experience with prototyping and validation.
- Analytical skills including design and selection, stresses, fatigue life, component fits, establishing efficient and ergonomic assembly methods, and design calculations.
- Awareness of GD&T, DFMEA and DFMA.
- Good knowledge of product design tools and environments such as CAD, SolidWorks and SAP.
- Strong communication skills, accountability, innovation and the ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to work in a global and virtual environment.
Nice to have
- Understanding of fusible products.
