Associate Principal Data Architect

Overview

Associate Principal Data Architect for Dyson’s Data Analytics & AI team, leading enterprise data architecture across complex, multi-system platforms and transformation programs.

What you'll do

• Define, evolve, and govern enterprise data architecture principles, standards, reference models, and design patterns.
• Lead data architecture for complex solutions across warehouses, lakes, real-time platforms, and analytical environments.
• Translate stakeholder needs into conceptual, logical, and physical architecture designs aligned to enterprise direction.
• Provide hands-on architectural leadership during delivery and transformation projects, resolving trade-offs and enforcing standards.
• Establish and strengthen data governance and practices covering metadata, taxonomy, lineage, ownership, and compliance.
• Review and challenge solution designs for robustness, security, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and future readiness.
• Create and maintain architecture artefacts such as blueprints, data models, data flows, and decision records.

What you'll need

• Proven experience leading data architecture within complex digital transformation or enterprise/multi-domain data programmes.
• Expertise in enterprise data architecture design, including warehouses, lakes, real-time platforms, semantic layers, and cross-system data flows.
• Deep understanding of data governance, metadata management, taxonomy, lineage, ownership/stewardship, access controls, and compliance.
• Experience architecting scalable, secure, cost-effective cloud-based data solutions, ideally on GCP.
• Ability to review technical designs, challenge assumptions, and recommend solutions balancing risk, constraints, and business value.
• Strong stakeholder engagement to translate objectives into architecture decisions for technical and non-technical audiences.
