Associate Software Engineer - Intern

Overview

Join Kaleris's Chennai team as an Associate Software Engineer intern, building next-generation transportation and logistics software for the marine industry.

What you'll do

• Work with colleagues to define system requirements and build state-of-the-art software.
• Collaborate with the QA team to help Developers, Quality Engineers and Product Managers deliver high-quality applications.
• Join an Agile team coordinating with a Product Manager, lead developer and QA lead.
• Create new product features for global customers using test-driven development.
• Work on every level of the stack, from frontend to backend and everything in between.
• Take end-to-end ownership of your part of the functionality.
• Keep up to date on new technologies and share your knowledge.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle from definition and design to product.

What you'll need

• BE or B.Tech in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Proven object-oriented programming skills with Java and/or C++.
• Experience with RDBMS and SQL (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
• Strong knowledge of design patterns and data structures.
• Strong analytical abilities with debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Quick learner with the ability to maintain ownership of large engineering projects through their lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Experience in programming enterprise or web applications.
• Knowledge of the broader Java and JEE stack (e.g. JDBC, JMX, JPA, JMS).
• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax and various frameworks.
• AppServer experience (Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss).
• Experience with REST APIs.
• Open source frameworks such as Spring.
• Ability to contribute to open source projects.
