Job description

Overview

Associate Substation Protection and Controls Engineer supporting utility substation engineering projects under the supervision of an experienced licensed professional engineer.

What you'll do

  • Assist project teams with protection and control design for utility substations.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations supporting design work.
  • Prepare engineered drawings, technical reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with other substation engineering disciplines.
  • Follow the established quality control plan.
  • Maintain accurate records and organized project files.

What you'll need

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • With a B.S. degree, 0–2+ years of relevant utility substation engineering experience.
  • With an M.S. degree, 0–1+ years of relevant utility substation engineering experience.
  • Basic understanding of the utility grid and electric power principles.
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
  • Strong written, oral, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multitask while maintaining schedules.

Nice to have

  • Major emphasis in power systems design and engineering.
  • Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
  • Prior relevant electric power engineering experience.
  • Active membership in engineering societies such as IEEE or PES.
