Overview
Azure Cloud Platform Engineer role at Toro Technology Center India, designing, building and operating secure, scalable and cost-effective Azure platform solutions in collaboration with technical leadership and cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with technical leadership, architecture, security, application, data, and AI teams to design and deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective Azure platform solutions.
- Engineer and support enterprise Azure Landing Zones, management groups, subscriptions, resource organization, tagging, policy, logging, and governance patterns.
- Design and implement Azure networking and connectivity patterns, including VNets, DNS, firewalls, private endpoints, routing, and secure hybrid or enterprise connectivity.
- Build and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform as a core engineering tool; use Bicep and Azure Verified Modules where they provide a strong Azure-native fit.
- Develop versioned, tested, reusable IaC modules and platform patterns that standardize cloud provisioning and reduce manual deployment effort.
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps, including reusable workflows, environment promotion, approvals, testing, and deployment traceability.
- Implement secure cloud identity patterns using Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, managed identities, Privileged Identity Management, Key Vault, and workload identity or OIDC-based authentication.
- Embed security and governance into engineering workflows using least privilege, Azure Policy, secure defaults, vulnerability and secret scanning, and documented exception handling.
- Build observability and operational readiness using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, dashboards, actionable alerting, runbooks, and service ownership practices.
- Own platform capabilities across their lifecycle - design, build, deployment, operations, incident response, root-cause analysis, resilience improvement, and retirement.
- Apply cloud FinOps practices including cost allocation, tagging, budgeting, forecasting, rightsizing, utilization analysis, anomaly identification, and optimization recommendations.
- Automate recurring operational and provisioning activities using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or equivalent scripting and automation techniques.
- Partner with application, data, analytics, and AI engineering teams to provide secure cloud foundations, connectivity, compute, storage, and deployment patterns for modern workloads.
- Create clear technical documentation, reference architectures, reusable examples, and knowledge-transfer material that supports consistent adoption across global teams.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Cloud, Infrastructure, DevOps, or Platform Engineering, including at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, including reusable modules, remote state, versioning, environment separation, and production deployment patterns.
- Strong experience with Azure platform services, networking, identity, security, governance, and automation.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Enterprise, including CI/CD pipelines or GitHub Actions and source-control-based engineering practices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, managed identities, Azure Policy, Key Vault, private endpoints, and enterprise networking concepts.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, incident response, operational support, and reliability practices for production cloud services.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or automation language such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Understanding of cloud cost management and FinOps principles, including tagging, cost ownership, budgeting, rightsizing, and optimization.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure Well-Architected Framework, Azure Landing Zone design principles, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), SLOs, or resilience testing.
- Experience supporting cloud foundations for data, analytics, or AI workloads, including secure connectivity, compute, storage, identity, and deployment automation.
- Exposure to multi-cloud engineering patterns or AWS/GCP is beneficial; Azure remains the primary focus of this role.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400), or HashiCorp Terraform Associate; equivalent practical experience is valued.
- Experience creating reusable platform services, self-service or 'golden path' capabilities, internal developer platforms, or cloud service catalogs.
