Backend Engineer, AS

Overview

Backend Engineer role supporting the Global Financial Crime Intelligence Unit (GFCIU) within the Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) department at Deutsche Bank.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement new backend features for AFC products in an agile Scrum team.
• Design, build, implement, and maintain software applications using Java and related technologies.
• Develop back-end services with Java and integrate APIs.
• Ensure cross-platform optimization and deliver high-quality software with the team.
• Contribute across software delivery stages from initial analysis to production support.

What you'll need

• Proficiency in Java 17.
• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs and JUnit.
• Experience with Oracle/SQL/PLSQL and solid SQL database work including performance optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD and build/source control tools including Git and Maven.
• Worked in Agile environments using Scrum, Kanban, or similar.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with deploying microservices on Kubernetes pods and OpenShift.
• Exposure to AI-driven coding tools and AI/ML integration with backend systems.
