Overview
Software Engineer II supporting backend services for omnichannel commerce, including inventory availability, order promising, fulfilment and post-purchase experiences.
What you'll do
- Develop and support scalable real-time inventory availability, allocation, and order promising services.
- Calculate Available-to-Sell using on-hand, in-transit, reserved, allocated, and safety-stock inventory.
- Implement order-promising logic for delivery and pickup estimates based on inventory location and fulfilment-node capacity.
- Build microservices in Java and Spring Boot with focus on scalability and resilience.
- Create event-driven inventory processing using Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
- Integrate inventory and promising services with systems such as OMS, WMS, ERP, store, and fulfilment platforms.
- Ensure services are secure, observable, reliable, and resilient; support production monitoring and troubleshooting.
What you'll need
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise-grade applications, preferably in commerce/order management/inventory/supply-chain domains.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging technologies, and integration patterns.
- Experience building reliable, scalable, maintainable production-grade backend services.
- Practical understanding of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and production support.
- Working knowledge of observability, reliability engineering, and performance optimisation.
