Backend Engineer, Create: Repository Management

Overview

Backend Engineer on the Repository Management team, building reliable and secure repository configuration and management capabilities using Ruby and GraphQL.

What you'll do

• Develop secure, tested, performant features with Ruby and GraphQL.
• Build backend services, APIs, data models, and business logic for repository management.
• Monitor production health metrics and participate in Tier 2 on-call.
• Troubleshoot incidents and contribute to root cause analysis.
• Improve system observability, resiliency, caching, rate limiting, and performance.
• Collaborate with product, design, testing, security, and engineering teams.
• Share knowledge through code reviews and technical documentation.

What you'll need

• Professional experience building backend web applications, services, or APIs.
• Experience with Ruby and GraphQL, or the ability to learn them.
• Understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, caching, and background processing.
• Experience with policy, permissions, or rules-based web application features.
• Experience writing backend unit and integration tests.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative code review.
• Experience using AI coding tools or agents and reviewing their output.
