Job description

Overview

Backend Java Engineer on Salesforce's Revenue Cloud Rating team, a newly formed, fully remote UK-based team rebuilding an event-driven microservices platform to rate complex, usage-based pricing at high volume and low latency.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and operate backend services within a Java-based, event-driven microservices architecture.
  • Use AI as a core part of your development workflow to deliver secure, optimized, high-quality code.
  • Make sound technical decisions with incomplete information as the team learns and builds in parallel.
  • Critically evaluate code, including your own, teammates', and AI-generated code, for correctness, quality, security, and performance.

What you'll need

  • 4-5 years of backend Java experience.
  • Experience building and operating microservice and event-driven architectures.
  • A strong tolerance for ambiguity, with the judgment to work independently and make decisions as the team and product transition into a new organization.
  • Hands-on experience with AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) as part of your regular workflow.
  • Prompt engineering skill to make AI outputs reliable and production-ready.

Nice to have

  • Experience working through a team or product integration following an acquisition.
  • Experience with high throughput, low latency systems while applying complex business logic.
  • Experience contributing to a shared system context, such as documented design standards and constraints that help AI tools operate reliably.

Details

  • Location: United Kingdom, England; fully remote.
  • Team is UK-based.
