Backend Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Porch is hiring a Backend Senior Software Engineer for its ingestion and data platform team, focused on integrations with data partners and core platform data.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with product management, web engineers, and data engineers to deliver critical features.
• Design and develop backend systems and services using Scala.
• Maintain long-term code health and set a high-quality engineering bar.
• Lead projects from technical design through completion with design documentation.
• Identify and resolve design problems and ambiguity with requirements.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of professional experience building backend applications on the JVM.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, and object-oriented languages (e.g., Java).
• Experience with service-oriented architecture and REST-based web service development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
• Proven experience working with US-based business teams.
