Backend Web Developer

Overview

Join Hitachi Vantara's tools development team as a Backend Web Developer focused on developing and maintaining middleware logic and support systems for the sales process. Work closely with frontend developers to define, design and develop APIs, with an opportunity to grow into a full-stack developer.

What you'll do

• Design and develop robust, scalable and secure web applications using Python and Django frameworks.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other developers to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Develop and maintain database schemas, queries and APIs to support application functionality.
• Troubleshoot and debug application issues, identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and optimize application performance.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in web development.
• Collaborate with the DevOps team to deploy and maintain applications on cloud platforms.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Python Django Developer, with at least 3+ years of experience in web development.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Django, DRF and related frameworks.
• Experience with database systems, particularly SQL and ORM libraries such as Django ORM and SQLAlchemy.
• Understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and front-end frameworks such as React and Angular.
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git and experience with agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, finding solutions to programming problems with minimal oversight.
• Ability to work in a team with diverse technical backgrounds.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
• Familiarity with working in Linux.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
